OUR APPROACH TO LEARNING

At the Umbrella House, we believe that play is of central importance in helping children learn.  Play allows children to make sense of the world and encouraging them to explore and investigate in a unique and non-threatening way.  We believe that through play children can learn at their own level and pace, they can also explore and experiment without fear or failure.

Our highly qualified staff plan varied activities based upon Early years foundation stage framework EYFS. We offer the children a broad and balanced curriculum, which enable them to learn in a deep and lasting ways. We focus on learning through play and carefully monitor each child’s individual needs through our “key-person” system.

We know that all young children need periods of uninterrupted time in which they can actively explore their environment, set their own challenges and make their own discoveries. Our staff team therefore give the children opportunities to work collectively with their peers and adults who support and extend their natural interests.
